This meeting was all business, where we elected our Worshipful Master for the ensuing year. W Bro Mal Grange agreed to continue as Master for a further year, which was excellent news as his experience and caring personality is just what we need as a Lodge. Well done W Bro Mal!
But once again we held a ‘white table’ event at the festive board for wives, partners and friend to join us, as well as a prospective new member.
We all enjoyed the usual high quality Tickton Grange fayre and the company of family and friends.
We received a talk from W Bro Ian Syddall the Provincial Grand Charity Steward on the operation of the Provincial Grand Charity and its workings, as well as the opportunities available to Lodges to promote good causes for support from both the Provincial Charity and also the MCF at Grand Lodge level.
W Bro Ian also explained the principle behind Festival 2029, what the objectives were and how individuals and Lodges could make donations, and also buy memorabilia such as ties, cufflinks, gloves etc. The humorous reference to what was available for the ladies to purchase such as marigold gloves, ironing boards and shopping trollies received a mixed reception from the ladies’ present – might need to rethink that part of the script going forward Ian!
The explanation was informative and gave us insights in how we as a Lodge could achieve better supporting results for our intended good causes, by leveraging the Provincial Charity and the MCF’s engagement in our giving. Food for thought and action.
